Regular Library Card

Sign up for a library card!

During library open hours, you can visit in person to fill out an application and show photo ID and proof of address. There’s no charge for a library card for residents of our service area and certain other areas, including:

Clackamas County (except Johnson City)
Multnomah County
Washington County
Hood River County
Clark County (Washington)
Klickitat County (Washington)
Skamania County (Washington)
City of Camas (Washington)

Residents of these areas can get a free card in each library system. Please make sure to return borrowed materials to the correct location and abide by each system's policies.

eCard Option

No library card yet, but need access right away?

Sign up for an eCard! Clackamas County residents ages 5 and up can complete an online application to get instant access to eBooks, digital audiobooks and other electronic resources. There’s no charge and you can borrow up to 3 eBooks right away. (If you’re not sure if you have a card, or if your old card has expired, go ahead and fill out an eCard application.)

Options for Out-of-area Residents

What if I don't live in Clackamas County (or the other locations listed above)?

Visitors who live outside of the service area have several options for library services:

1. Visit without a card. Everyone is welcome to come, browse, and use library resources onsite, even if they don't have a card. Guest passes are available for computer access, and you can even book a study room.

2. Pay for a full-service out-of-area card. For $95/year, a household may obtain a regular library card. The fee covers cards for everyone living at that address.

3. Get a limited-service Passport card for free. If you already have a card from a participating library (the full list is available here), you can get a Passport card at Canby Public Library. A Passport card allows 5 checkouts and 5 holds at a time, but does not include access to eBooks, cultural passes, Interlibrary Loan services, or Library of Things. Passport cards are valid for one year at a time.

4. Get a computer-use-only card for free. If you think you'll be visiting on a regular basis but don't plan to check out materials, then we recommend a computer-use-only card. There's no ID or residence requirement for this card type.
