Accessibility at Canby Public Library

Canby Public Library is committed to providing welcoming, inclusive, and accessible services, spaces, and resources for all community members.

If you need assistance using any accessibility equipment or services, please visit the service desk or call the library.

Building Access

  • Handicap parking spots on 2nd Avenue near the entrance of the building

Accessible Spaces

Automatic Door Openers

The Willamette Room (community room) and lobby restrooms are equipped with automatic door openers to improve access for patrons with mobility needs.

Large Print Signage

Large print signage throughout the library helps patrons navigate library spaces and services more easily.

Accessible Computer Station

An accessible computer workstation is available near the adult computer area and includes:

  • Adjustable-height desk
  • Large print keyboard
  • Trackball mouse
  • Wrist rest keyboard cover
  • Hands-free flex lamp with magnifier
  • Bold writer pens and think-line paper
  • NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access) screen reader software
  • Microsoft accessibility tools

Accessible Printing Station

An adjustable-height workstation with a touchscreen and trackball mouse is available for printing and copying.

Assistive Technology & Accessibility Tools

The following items are available for use in the library. Please ask staff at the service desk for assistance.

Vision Support

  • Portable reading/tablet stand
  • Portable reading stand with hands-free magnifier
  • Computer stand magnifier
  • Rechargeable LED book light
  • Talking calculator
  • Talking calculator (Spanish)
  • Braille 6-dot/large print keyboard

Communication Support

  • SCOMM UbiDuo 2 for face-to-face typed conversations

Collections

  • Free audiobooks and Braille materials are available through the State Library's Talking Books & Braille Library program. Library staff are authorized to sign applications as a Certifying Authority.
  • Large Print Section to the right of the service desk in the adult area.
  • Audiobook Collections on CDs in the children's area, adult area, and Spanish language area.
  • Downloadable eBook and eAudiobook collections available for eReaders, laptops, tablets, computers and smartphones via the Libby app. Accessibility options on OverDrive.
  • DVD and Blu-Ray films with subtitles and closed captioning in the children's area, adult area, and Spanish language area.

Library of Things Accessibility Collection

The following accessibility-related items are available for checkout:

  • Amigo Portable Electronic Magnifier
  • CD Player
  • Portable CD Player

Using Accessibility Equipment

Most accessibility tools are available at no cost for use inside the library. Some equipment is located at the accessible workstation, while other items are kept at the service desk. Simply ask staff for assistance. Items used in the library should be returned before leaving for the day.
