Code Compliance

Code Enforcement

The City of Canby recognizes the importance of preserving a high level of livability throughout our community and has adopted local ordinances that govern the property use and maintenance of private property. Code Compliance provides comprehensive education and enforcement efforts that promote voluntary compliance and prompt correction of violations with consistency and fairness.

Code Compliance works in partnership with other departments within the City of Canby, including Public Works, Planning, City Hall, and Economic Development. Some investigations also require working with outside agencies, including Canby Fire, Clackamas County Building Department, Oregon Department of Agriculture and the Oregon Construction Contractors Board. These partnerships help provide more thorough and complete investigations and community education.

Code compliance concerns within the City limits of Canby should be reported to Clackamas County Non-Emergency Dispatch at 503-655-8211.  Complainant information is kept confidential per State of Oregon public records statutes. However, the complainants name will be disclosed if a citation is issued and that person will be a witness in the case.

Some common code enforcement concerns include:

Parking violations
Abandoned vehicles
Noise violations
Fences
Accessory structures
Setbacks
Signs
Garbage and debris
Weeds and noxious growth (as determined by the State of Oregon noxious weed lists)
