The City of Canby's Economic Development Department hosts several community events throughout the year. Those events include First Thursdays, the Canby Independence Day Celebration, Canby's Big Night Out, Halloween Spooktacular Village, and Light Up the Night.

First Thursday Night Market- Logo First Thursday Night Market

The City's Economic Development department partners with local businesses and non-profit organizations to host the monthly First Thursday Night Market. The event occurs from 5:00 - 8:00p on the first Thursday of the month, February through December. 

As Canby continues to grow, so do the offerings during First Thursday! Join our local businesses as they showcase their offerings with specials and deals, giveaways and more!

Canby Independence Day Celebration Logo Canby Independence Day Celebration

The City of Canby hosts its annual Canby Independence Day Celebration in downtown. The event features a street fair with food and beverage vendors, arts and crafts exhibitors, and local nonprofits. Live music fills Wait Park as children take park in free children's activities. A car show and parade offer fun for all!

Big Night Out logo Canby's Big Night Out Street Dance

Canby's Big Night Out Street Dance kicks off Canby's Big Weekend. The Big Night Out Street Dance features live music, local food and beverage vendors, and free children's activities. The fun kicks off at 5:00 - 7:00p with live music with 21 Turns Band opening; followed by Paradise of Samoa from 7:00-8:00p; and finally Brandon Jones takes the stage from 8:00 - 10:00p. Children's activities include bouncy houses, arcade truck, sidewalk chalk, and much more. Local restaurants and non-profits line the street selling food, beverages, and adult beverages.

Canby Spooktacular Village Canby's Spooktacular Village

Canby’s Spooktacular Village is a beloved annual event that transforms downtown Canby into a vibrant hub of Halloween festivities each October 31st from 3pm-6pm. Local businesses join in the spirit of the season, offering a delightful array of treats for families and children of all ages. Explore the various scarecrows created by local businesses, thanks to Hotrod Dreamworks. The event creates a magical atmosphere where the community comes together to celebrate the holiday.

Wait Park lit for Light Up the Night Light Up The Night

The 24th Annual Light Up The Night event will return to Wait Park on Friday, December 5, 2025.  Light Up The Night kicks off at 6:00p with a lighted parade throughout downtown Canby. The lighted parade will finish at Wait Park at approximately 6:30p as the Canby Fire District delivers Santa Claus on N. Grant Street. The winner of “Who Lights Up Canby” will turn on the lights in the park. Children of all ages are encouraged to stay for a chat and photo opportunity with Santa Claus.
