James “Mitch” Coley

James “Mitch” Coley is a law enforcement executive, military veteran, and public servant with more than 35 years of service to his community and country. He has served with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) for nearly 30 years and has spent the last three years serving as the Chief of Police for the City of Cornelius and as the WCSO Tactical Negotiations Team (SWAT) Commander.  Mitch is committed to building safe communities through trust, accountability, strong partnerships, and responsive public service.
