Rules of Conduct

10.1 CONDUCT GOVERNING THE USE OF THE CANBY PUBLIC LIBRARY

The Canby Public Library is dedicated to providing friendly, courteous, respectful service, and an enjoyable, clean and comfortable environment for all library users.  The conduct rules governing the library have a threefold purpose: to protect the rights and safety of library patrons, to protect the rights and safety of staff members, and to preserve the library’s materials, facilities and property.

Children’s Area & Teen Room Use

Canby Public Library is committed to providing an inviting, safe space for youth that is responsive to their needs. The Children's area and Teen Room in the Library are specifically designed to serve the needs of younger library users. The Children's area is intended for children (infants through grade 5) and their parent(s) or caregiver(s). The Teen Room is intended for teens (grades 6-12).

Children's Area

Parents and guardians are welcome in the Children's area when accompanied by children and/or to attend a program with their child.

Use a Computer

Canby Public Library offers desktop computers for use by the public, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are not required.

Desktop computers for adults are located next to the service desk and separate computers for kids and teens are located in their designated areas. Customers may log on with a library card number or a guest pass.

Search-only (catalog) computers do not require a login and have no session time limit.

Library customers must agree to the following computer use rules, whether they’re using a desktop or the WiFi.

Use the WiFi

Canby Public Library is pleased to offer wireless internet (WiFi) for customers with wireless -enabled devices such as laptops and smartphones. Please review the terms of use in the supporting documents section below.

What do I need to use the library's WiFi?

A laptop or other wireless-enabled device is needed to access WiFi. If your laptop does not have wireless built in, you must purchase a WiFi-compatible network card. The library cannot guarantee that your equipment will work with the library's network.
