Proposed Renewal of Canby Swim Center Levy
Background: In July 2026, the Canby City Council referred the renewal of a current five-year local option levy to the voters at the November 3, 2026 election. This proposed five-year local option levy is a renewal of the current five-year local option levy that funds 85% of the Canby Swim Center operations and maintenance.
What happens if the voters approve the 5-year local option levy?
If approved by the voters, the 5-year local option levy would:
- Replace the expiring 5-year levy, approved in 2022.
- Renew at the same rate of $0.49 per $1,000 assessed property value.
- Be in effect July 1, 2027 - June 30, 2032.
- Provide funds for the staffing, operation, programming, maintenance, repair, renovation, and modernization of the City’s aquatic facilities and services.
What happens if the voters do not approve the 5-year local option levy?
If not approved by the voters, then the current 5-year local option levy that funds 85% of the Canby Swim Center’s operations and maintenance would expire on June 30, 2027, without renewal and there would be no revenue to replace it.
