Parks and Recreation Advisory Board

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm at the Public Works Building located at 1470 NE Territorial Road. Meetings are open to the public.  You may join in person or via Zoom.

Duties and responsibilities:

  1. Keeping informed about current trends in parks and recreation services and administration.
  2. Studying growth and needs in the city and its vicinity for parks and recreation services
  3. Developing long-range plans for parks and recreation services and facilities, consistent with city priorities
  4. Recommending types of parks and recreation services for the city and its vicinity, including marketing of such services.
  5. Investigating sources of funding for parks and recreation services and facilities.
  6. Recommending policies for the acceptance and use of gifts for parks and recreation purposes.
  7. Participating in the annual budgetary process of the city as that process pertains to parks and recreation services.
  8. Recommending policies and procedures conducive to efficient and effective operation of parks and recreation services.
  9. Reviewing and recommending terms of contracts and working relationships with other public agencies regarding parks and recreation services.
  10. Encouraging widespread public support and use of park and recreation services and facilities.
  11. Submitting an annual report to the City Council.
  12. Advising the Planning Department regarding parkland dedication and other park planning issues to meet the public needs identified in the Park Master Plan and Park Acquisition Plan.
  13. Performing other duties as authorized by the City Council.
